5 Reasons to come to Sister Bees hometown this Fall!

So as many of you know, Sister Bees' home base is Ludington, MI.  It's a beautiful beach town, nestled right on Lake Michigan.  (About halfway up the mitten)  We adore the people, fun restaurants, and all the natural beauty our town has to offer. Come to visit us!  And when you do, here are a few of our favorite stops.

1.  State Park

Ludington State park

The state park is 5,300 acres of natures best, located just north of town.  Our park offers any outdoor enthusiast so many options, you won't be disappointed.  Not only can you camp, but there are bike trails to conquer, hiking trails to explore, fish to be caught, and a Michigan shoreline to see.  You have to plan ahead if you're interested in camping here, the sites fill up fast!

For Reservations, Call 1-800-447-2757, or go to www.michigan.gov/dnr. Campsites fill fast so call early in the season.

2. Stearns Beach

Ludington Sterns Beach

Our beach is absolutely the best.  The sand is white and clean, and the parking is free! Ludington's beach has 2,500 feet of shoreline, and you can actually park right next to it.  Bring the family and play beach volleyball, mini golf, shuffleboard, or play at the playground.  For a more relaxing approach, watch the sunset, read a good book, or grill up a burger on the grassy area right next to the beach!    At the end of the beach lies the North Breakwater lighthouse.  We love heading for a walk on the pier as the Badger, Ludington's car ferry, sets sails across the lake to Wisconsin.

3.   The Waterfront Park  & House of Flavors!

House of Flavors

This park and ice cream are a definite combo destination!  The park was built in 1999 and is a blast for kids and adults alike.  The playground is huge, and the view is amazing.  It sits right between two marinas. There are plenty of benches, picnic tables, fun sculptures, and nice restrooms.  (Always a plus with the kiddos.)  It's close to town, so when the kids have had enough, head on over to the famous House of Flavors Ice cream Parlor.  I (Kimberly) worked there for many years as a teenager, and still can't get enough of the peanut butter cup ice cream on a sugar cone!

4.  Blu Moon Restaurant

Blu Moon Bistro

And now, for some good eats!  One of our favorites is the Blu Moon Bistro situated on James Street.  The three of us Sister Bees have enjoyed a huge plate of lobster nachos and a pitcher of sangria's on more than one occasion.  We love to head on up to the top deck, look out on the town, while listening to the cabana music.  The Blu Moon features fresh ingredients and has amazing sushi, which is my husbands favorite.

5. Red Rooster Coffee & Community

Red Rooster Coffee and Community

And every good vacation means a stop at the local coffee shop.  Red Rooster Coffee is located right downtown on James Street, and serves up an amazing cup of organic coffee....and the pumpkin spice latte is pretty fantastic!  And I'm not even being partial, although my husband Rich & I (Kimberly) own this fun place!  We also offer organic baked goods such as cookies, bread, and scones that are all baked from a hand-built brick oven.  I'm there often, and I'd love to visit with you personally on your trip.

So, come to visit Sister Bees hometown soon.  We would love to see you there.  Have you been to Ludington, MI?  If so, tell us about your favorite places!
